OpenWrt Cheat Cube

The idea is to recreate something like Fedora Cheat Cube with most used CLI command that are useful for OpenWrt management over CLI.

You can see how this cube looks and get Fedora source files that could be used for creating OpenWrt Cheat Cube. Fedora sources are use CC licence so are free to use.

To edit the source SVG image., use e.g. Inkscape, a cross-platform FOSS vector graphics editor. (Dokuwiki does not support SVG)

  • Failsafe related commands (router's and client's IP addresses, how to telnet in, mount_root, firstboot, location of config files)
  • Basic config files:
    • /etc/config/wireless
    • /etc/config/network
    • /etc/config/firewall

Some basic opkg package manager commands (needs working internet connection)

opkg update update list of available packages
opkg install nano install nano package
  • Connect to OpenWrt router:
    • via telnet: telnet 192.168.1.1
    • via ssh: ssh root@192.168.1.1 or via app like putty
  • show current lan interface ip address
    • uci get network.lan.ipaddr
  • change lan interface ip address
    • uci set network.lan.ipaddr=192.168.9.1
    • uci commit network
    • /etc/init.d/network restart
  • enable wireless interface
    • uci set wireless.@wifi-device[0].disabled=0
    • uci commit wireless
    • wifi
  • show currently connected wifi clients
    • iw dev wlan0 station dump
