Installation

Flash Layout

OEM installation using the TFTP method

  1. Put the following files in the tftp server store: openwrt-15.05-ixp4xx-generic-pronghorn-zImage, openwrt-15.05-ixp4xx-generic-squashfs.img
  2. Monitor via serial port
  3. Apply power to Pronghorn SBC250
  4. @ the '== Executing boot script in 2.000 seconds - enter ^C to abort' prompt hit Control-C
  5. Use fconfig to set ip address and server ip address as per TFTP Server configuration
  6. Initialize flash: fis init
  7. Load the kernel image via TFTP: load -r -b %{FREEMEMLO} openwrt-15.05-ixp4xx-generic-pronghorn-zImage
  8. Write image to flash: fis create linux
  9. View list: fis list
  10. Calculate free space [RedBoot config FLASH addr] - [linux FLASH addr] + [linux Length] = FreeSpace
  11. Load root filesystem image via TFTP: load -r -b %{FREEMEMLO} -h 192.168.1.3 openwrt-15.05-ixp4xx-generic-squashfs.img
  12. Write image to flash: fis create -l 0x[FreeSpace] rootfs
  13. Open RedBoot's configuration: fconfig -d
  14. When prompted with Run script at boot, change the value to true
  15. Enter the following in the first line of the script enter: fis load linux
  16. Enter the second line: exec.
  17. Hit enter to finish the script with an empty line.
  18. Your last entry is the timeout for loading the script. It shouldn't take longer than 1 or 2 seconds.
  19. Keep hitting enter until you get this prompt: Update RedBoot non-volatile configuration - continue (y/n)?
  20. Type y and enter.
  21. Power cycle the router and openwrt should boot. As long as everything installed properly, you can access Luci in about 50 seconds from switching on the power.

Upgrading OpenWrt

generic.sysupgrade

sysupgrad is not currently supported. To upgrade follow the installation instructions!
