ZLMnet F8

The ZLMnet F8 was introduced in spring 2016. The unit is delivered with OpenWrt 15.05.1 and ZLMnet's proprietary user interface on top of all the standard OpenWrt tools. Features include:

  • Based on the Mediatek MT7620A @ 580MHz
  • 128MB DDR2, 16MB SPI Flash
  • 300Mbps Wifi N (2.4GHz only)
  • Single 100M Ethernet (WAN/LAN)
  • Internal antennas
  • MicroSD card
  • MicroSIM card
  • 4G Module:Qualcomm 9X07
  • Built in polymer lithium battery, capacity of about 5000mAh

OEM installation using the TFTP method

The ZLMnet F8 Uboot support TFTP server mode! Uboot restore Upgrade method:

  • Set a fixed IP:192.168.100.100 on your computer.
  • Connect the network cable, long press RESET button, and then boot until the circle light is always bright.
  • tftp.exe -i 192.168.100.1 PUT openwrt-ramips-mt7620-f8-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
  • Please wait for a moment until the circle lights out. After the success of the upgrade, the system will automatically restart.
  • If not successful, please redo the above steps.

Note: The .bin file name must be consistent with the upgrade software file name, if not, please modify ! This method is also applicable to OpenWrt upgrade.

Terminal Upgrade Process

If you don't have a GUI (LuCI) available, you can alternatively upgrade via the command line. There are two command line methods for upgrading:

  • sysupgrade
  • mtd

Note: It is important that you put the firmware image into the ramdisk (/tmp) before you start flashing.

sysupgrade

  • Login as root via SSH on 192.168.1.1, then enter the following commands:

cd /tmp
wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/XXX/xxx.abc
sysupgrade /tmp/xxx.abc

mtd

If sysupgrade does not support this router, use mtd.

  • Login as root via SSH on 192.168.1.1, then enter the following commands:

cd /tmp
wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/XXX/xxx.abc
mtd write /tmp/xxx.abc linux && reboot

Debricking

Switch Ports (for VLANs)

Port number 0 is labeled LAN/WAN,Default is LAN. Ports 1-5 are not present. Port 6 (CPU) is the internal connection to the router itself. vlan1 = eth0.1, vlan2 = eth0.2 and so on.
